Project Overview
This project was executed under the Qatar South Catchment Zone Framework and focused on maintenance intervention works at the Muntazah Road Underpass. The scope included the controlled removal of an internal concrete weir wall within the MISW system, alongside decommissioning and removal of submersible pumping equipment from the shaft. The works were carried out under strict safety controls with specialized access, lifting, and confined-space procedures.
Scope of Work
- Controlled demolition/removal of an internal concrete weir wall inside MISW
- Confined-space access preparation and safety control measures
- Decommissioning of submersible pumps and related accessories from the shaft
- Removal, handling, and transfer of pumping equipment and associated items for storage
- Site housekeeping, cleanup, and reinstatement as required
- Final inspection and completion confirmation
Execution Highlights
- Works executed within a live/operational drainage environment with strict QHSE controls
- Specialized access and lifting arrangements for confined shaft operations
- Safe decommissioning workflow for submersible pumping assets
- Controlled removal methodology to ensure integrity of surrounding structures
Testing & Verification
- Verification of removal completion and cleared internal obstruction area
- Confirmation of safe decommissioning and extraction of pumping equipment
- Final site inspection prior to close-out
Project Outcome
The weir wall was removed successfully and all specified pumping equipment was decommissioned and extracted from the shaft in a safe and controlled manner. The intervention restored the required operational condition for the MISW section at Muntazah Road Underpass.
