SGW Network Manhole Cover Recovery & Rectification

SGW Network Manhole Cover Recovery & Rectification

Qatar South Catchment Zone Framework – Msheireb Area, Qatar

Project Summary

This project was executed under the Qatar South Catchment Zone Framework and focused on emergency intervention works within the Surface Ground Water (SGW) gravity network.
The scope addressed the recovery and rectification of manhole covers that fell inside SGW shafts following a severe rain event.

Professional diving teams were deployed to safely access the shafts, recover the displaced covers, and reinstate them in accordance with approved safety and operational requirements.

Scope of Work

  • Inspection of affected SGW manholes and shafts
  • Diver-assisted access to confined underground structures
  • Recovery of displaced DI manhole covers from inside shafts
  • Rectification and proper reinstallation of manhole covers
  • Implementation of full safety and access control measures
  • Final verification and completion under live network conditions

Execution Highlights

  • Diver-assisted operations within live SGW gravity network
  • Safe confined-space access under controlled conditions
  • Rapid response following rain-related infrastructure impact
  • Use of certified diving equipment and safety systems
  • Compliance with QHSE and authority requirements

Testing & Verification

  • Visual inspection of reinstated manhole covers
  • Confirmation of correct seating and stability
  • Final inspection prior to work completion handover

Project Outcome

The works were completed safely and efficiently, restoring the affected SGW manholes to full operational condition.
The intervention ensured network integrity and reliability following the rain event, with all covers properly recovered and reinstated.
